Recovery From CFS is an amazing collection of stories that offers readers Hope with a capital H. I highly recommend the book for anyone who suffers from CFS/ME (now known as CFIDS in the US) and all those who love him/her.

There is no magic bullet cure to overcome CFIDS, and everyone who has had it knows what it is to refer to those “Dark Days, when there seemed to be no hope at all. This book includes a multitude of individual strategies to heal and recover — and truly become “better than new”, because of the hardwon lessons learned along the way.

It would be so wonderful if more people knew about this life-changing book. Anybody know Oprah??

Five-star, all the way…

I highly recommend this book for anyone suffering with CFS/ME or has a loved who is. I related with nearly all the stories in the book -even felt some could just as well been written by me. It is filled with all kinds of practical help but, more importantly, it is filled with hope. The causes of this illness and the path to recovery can be quite varied. The reader will, however, find many common threads among the 50 stories in this book. On the really difficult days when hope and energy would ebb and frustration and despair flow, I could curl up in my bed, open this book and feel the rejuvenating power of relating to others who had successfully navigated out of the clutches of what can sometimes seem to be an implacable and elusive affliction. I have made some very tangible progress towards my health in the last 6 months and consider reading this book to be a key turning point. I have complete confidence that I will soon be able to contribute my own story to what I hope will be another addition to this wonderful book. : Recovery from CFS – 50 Personal Stories is a simple collection of recovery stories from people who have recovered from CFS/ME. Men, women and children from six different countries who were all diagnosed with CFS/ME and who were ill for between 2 and 25 years, have written their own individual and very different accounts of their return to good health and a normal life. At the end of each account they have offered advice, suggested helpful books and websites, and many have even given contact details for readers needing support.The foreword is written by Dr Jacob Teitelbaum, Medical Director of the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Centers, Inc. USA. Dr Teitelbaum had CFS himself as a medical student and is one of the world’s foremost experts in CFS. Two of the stories are written by doctors, including that of Dr Clare Fleming who edited two reports from the UK National Task Force and who contributed to the Action for ME rehabilitation courses. There is also the miraculous story of canoeist Anna Hemmings who returned to win the world championship Gold medal nine months after recovering from CFS. 20% of the book proceeds go to CFS/ME research
It produces powerful, quality sound with One-Box Stereo Sound and Mega Bass, but it comes in a small package (12 oz including batteries). The unit is magnetically shielded, so it won’t interfere with other electronics, and the two-way power supply lets you use batteries or an AC outlet (along with the optional AC-E60HG or AC-E60A AC adapter). Don’t want to wear headphones just to enjoy a little of your own music back at the hotel? Take some speakers with you. With SRS-T33’s single chassis and compact, foldable design, Sony’s 1-watt-per-channel portable speakers will travel wherever you do. The little package even offers cable and plug storage management.
 The speakers’ 1.3-inch (34 mm) neodymium magnet drivers produce high energy output for impressive speaker movement, power, and sonic accuracy, giving you remarkably good sound from speakers occupying little more space than a CD case. Sometimes referred to as a rare earth magnet, neodymium offers 15 times the strength of a traditional strontium-iron-based magnet. This strength grants greater power handling and higher frequency reproduction. Kick in the unit’s Mega Bass circuit for a boost.
 The SRS-T33 is magnetically shielded to avoid interference when placed near or atop a TV, laptop computer, or monitor. The speakers operate for about 24 hours using 4 AA batteries (not included) and weigh approximately 8 ounces (without batteries) or 12 ounces (with batteries). The unit can also be used as passive portable speaker system, with no batteries or external power source required; just use the headphone amplifier on you portable device. Optional accessories include the AC-E60HG or AC-E60A AC/DC power adapters.
What’s in the Box
Speaker unit, a connecting cord, a user’s manual, and warranty info.

If you are like me just hearing the words “data recovery” can send a chill down your spine. If the subject comes up that means data has been lost, which is never a good thing.

I can’t count the number of horror stories I have heard where someone or some company has lost precious documents; files, photos, videos, spreadsheets, proposals, or other important digital products.

Chances are you will never lose your data if you are vigilant and always do regular backups of the files on your computer. But if you DO happen to lose data, due to one of several reasons, such as: hardware failure, software error, system failure, hackers or vandalism, natural disaster, or a computer virus, don’t panic. There are methods and different kinds of data recovery software available which are capable of hard drive data recovery and laptop data recovery.

However, let me backtrack a bit. There may be those of you who are new to all of this technical jargon. So I will explain exactly what data recovery is: Your computer is made up of components that store everything that has ever been input into the computer. Kind of like the human brain this is the computer’s memory, if you will. Data loss is the computer being unable to access or retrieve information from its storage facilities.

Then there are those of you reading who are highly knowledgeable about computers. If so you are most likely aware of one optimum scheme, a raid, which highly increases your chances of not losing precious data if disaster should strike.

Raid stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks, and is a technology which employs the use of two or more hard disk drive at the same time on one computer. A raid not only ramps up your computers reliability against lost data, it helps the computer reach higher levels of performance.

No matter which category you find yourself in you are aware of the fact that technology is at its optimum capacity. Due to this our world runs more efficiently than ever. We have access to most anything our heart desires. All we have to do is click a mouse.

But along with this myriad number of conveniences we enjoy comes responsibility. We are totally dependent on technology in so many areas of our lives. This creates the need to be proactive. Make sure you are doing what you need to do to make the reality of data loss something you will hopefully never experience.

Even though we are the most technologically advanced society ever we would do well to keep in mind what our forefather Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Inspired by this very complete French guide about data recovery “le guide de la récupération de données”: http://www.recuperationdedonneesperdues.com

Hansen –
I plugged this into my iPhone 3GS yesterday and it does not work with it. The speakers produce no sound at all. At first I was fooled a bit because sounds play out of the normal speaker built into the iPhone. I am curious if previous reviewers are reporting sound quality from the iPhone or from the dock. Maybe they are using it with older models of the iPhone. I get the warning from the phone as well saying that the device is not compatible with the iPhone. Whether I choose yes or no at that menu makes no difference, the dock produces no sound. It will charge the iPhone, but the speakers DO NOT WORK with my iPhone 3GS. Do not buy this for the iPhone 3GS.
I was a little disappointed when i first opened the box and saw this very small speaker as I had just looked at one at Best Buy and assumed i was ordering the same thing however after using it I was very happy with the quality sound it produces. I take this thing everywhere as it is small enough to stick in a purse or backpack and uses batteries as well as plug in. Keep in mind if you are using it outside at say a pool party or something with a bunch of people it will not do but for individual use it is great!! I keep it in the bathroom and bedroom most of the time but also take it to my workout room so i don’t have to run on the treadmill with headphones anymore. Produces good sound quality decent bass and very easy to use. Comes with a remote and charges your ipod as well. You can’t go wrong for the price and it would be a great gift for teenagers.

Hard drive data recovery software is the best means of finding lost files or recovering deleted data today. There’s no longer any need to have mad skills in the realm of computer hacking to try and coax the data from the tight grips of the hard drive, nor is there any need to have any hacker friends from among the elite “digiratti”. Now you can accomplish this task all on your own with just a few clicks of your mouse, using hard drive data recovery software.

The way it all works is very interesting to know… you see, whenever we delete something, it doesn’t actually disappear, never to be seen again. Remember, government agencies like the FBI or the CIA often find a lot of incriminating evidence from the computers of criminal suspects. This is so, even if the suspect has purged his computer of all data, formatting the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system (much like what we’d be forced to do in the event of catching a destructive computer virus).

The fact is that it is all still there somewhere, embedded in one form or another in little hiding places on our hard drive. Hard drive data recovery software finds these little hiding places and restores the data all with a few clicks of your mouse. Just click a few times, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and watch the magic. With hard drive data recovery software, regaining lost files, restoring accidentally deleted information and recovering lost data of all sorts is simply a breeze.

Want to know which ‘Restore Deleted Files’ Software does the best job? I’ve reviewed my top 3 programs at www.choosereviews.com/restoredeletedfiles

Although, then magnitude of it being cute offset her displeasure of its lack of reception. I gave it a three because it’s not horrible given the price. Just know that you will need headphones to give it any sort of sound quality and also know that it has a hard time picking up stations unless you are outside, regardless of what the building you are in is made of.
I’m a D.I.Y ( Do It Yourself)er I wanted a tiny cheap radio with a integrated speaker. As a D.I.Y, I work around my home as I do others as well. When I work on power outlets etc. I turn the brecker off. I use this(everything goes better with a radio). When I get a call for help this is in my tool bag and just the right amount of volume not to bug anyone. I never used the head phones can’t review that part sorry but if your looking for a tiny cheap radio this could be the one your looking for.

A very important factor for addiction recovery is being able to have tools for dealing with difficult situations, rather than going into an escape route such as taking drugs. Initially it is hard to use new tools rather than old habits but as time goes on, the old habits appear to offer no solution and the new tools give one a sense of accomplishment and enrichment. It is similar to the feeling one might have where someone might have chosen to jog for 20 minutes for relief instead of running out to buy chocolate and ice cream to deal with an argument they just had with someone.

How do you get the energy to combat an old pattern in your addiction recovery? It is helpful to write out or sit meditatively and ask yourself where the former pattern takes you and how you feel afterward. How do you feel after having a few chocolate bars or calling someone back to scream at them? Compare that to how you feel after taking a run, doing some journal writing or something that increases your energy and awareness.

Drug abuse is something that will appear in one’s mind in challenging moments to offer a relief, but is this relief more like scratching a mosquito bite? You get a momentary relief but you aggravate the initial problem. Motivation is very important ot keep going and trying to put the two routes you can take in front of you is helpful for making healthy choices for recovering from an addiction.

Thinking about the unhelpfulness of scratching a mosquito bite can help to outline what solutions appear to the mind during stress that really are not long term solutions. Our bodies want to heal and our emotions and spiritual sides want wholeness. Thinking about what solutions are truly helpful versus only provide momentary relief can help you take the right fork in the road in trying moments while in the addiction recovery process.

According to the National Archives & Records Administration in Washington, D.C., 93% of companies that lost their data center for 10 or more days due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year.

Whether your business data is in the form of a customer electronic database, office documents or e-mail content, this statistic illustrates the importance of data in any business. Typically, without data, there is no business.

When this vital data is suddenly not available, the business suffers. Data can become corrupted because of various reasons, including:

* Hardware & system failure

* Human error (accidental deletion & overwrites)

* Software corruption (upgrades & installations)

* Electrical damage (power surges, outages)

* Natural disasters (floods, fires, earthquakes)

* Computer viruses

* Malicious behavior (disgruntled employees)

* Backup tools and techniques are not implemented

The good news is that your data, whether it’s housed on a single hard drive, multi-drive RAID arrays, external hard drives or some other media, is likely not gone forever. But, in order to get your vital data back, you must first take action.

Before you can get your data back, it’s vital that you follow these five data recovery tips:

STEP ONE: Determine the value of the data. Before you try to recover the data from your computer, you should first determine what the value of the data is to your company. If the data is not essential to your operation and has no potential future ramifications then you could attempt to recover the data yourself.

In the real world, however, most data is crucial in day-to-day business. In fact, U.S. businesses lose on average $12 billion per year because of data loss. In an Ontrack report entitled 2001 Cost of Downtime Survey Results, 28% of respondents said that data loss would cost them between $51,000 and $250,000 per hour and 25% said it would cost them more than $251,000 per hour.

You actually need to be evaluating the cost of your data on an hourly basis. Twenty-one percent of respondents in the same Ontrack survey said that their company would be in serious risk if they lost their data for 48 hours. Twenty-four percent said that their business is at risk in less than a day of data loss.

So if you’re experiencing a hard drive crash, server problems or another crisis where data loss could be imminent, ask yourself:

* How will it affect me and my company if I lose this data?

* What will it cost me in dollars and down-time to re-enter this data?

* Can I recreate this data if I need to?

If you conclude your data is essential, stop what you’re doing and turn off the system and follow the remaining steps.

STEP TWO: Don’t listen to anyone but a data recovery specialist. Data recovery is a highly specialized task that only experts should perform. Your corporate IT folks may think they know what they’re doing, but they don’t. Not even the system manufacturers are able tell you the right steps to take to recover your data.

Do not listen to anybody, including the manufacturers that tell you to rebuild the array, re-stripe it or reconfigure it. The difference between a RAID and a single drive is the complexity in the way it writes to these drives. If you do the wrong thing, it completely wipes it out and reduces any chance of recovering data.

STEP THREE: Gather information about what happened. When you realize your hard drive is having a problem, the first thing you must do is turn off your system. If your hard drive is clicking, for example, continued use may damage the platters and make your data unrecoverable.

Next, write down the symptoms, which could include:

* Hard drive clicking

* RAID drives in degraded mode

* RAID controller failure

* Empty containers

* Volume not mounting or recognized a BIOS error

Then make a note of exactly what was happening before you discovered the problem:

* Write down what error messages you received

* What the screen condition is

* How many drives are affected

* The position of the array

* The block and stripe size-both forward and backward.

It’s essential you gather as much information as possible and be honest about what is happening.

The reason this information gathering step is so important is that many employees or IT professionals fear they’ll get reprimanded or lose their jobs if it is discovered that human error caused the server crash. Therefore, they often don’t disclose all of the necessary information.

Since human error accounts for 11% of all data loss, it would save you a lot of valuable time, if the data recovery company who you are working with had all of the information up front. Even information that may be embarrassing or not seem relevant is important to share.

STEP FOUR: Never restore or rebuild the hard drive and use it again as if nothing happened. If your server has failed, you should not attempt to manually rebuild the array. If you do, you’ll overwrite the original structure, stripping and destroying the data that you need to recover.

Many IT professionals think the solution to the problem is to backup data onto the array that is damaged. If the backup array is faulty, the IT professional just restored garbage on top of good data.

Furthermore, if the hard drive becomes inaccessible or fails, many IT professionals will run a fresh installation of the operating systems. But if they’ve reformatted the hard drive, they’ve just eliminated any data that was there.

If you have to install software, do not do it on the same drive from which you’re trying to recover data, because the more you write on a drive the more you run the risk of overwriting the sector your data’s on.

Instead of fixing the problem yourself, turn the PC, server or laptop over to a professional data recovery expert to avoid permanent consequences of data loss on your hard drive.

STEP FIVE: Call an expert! Essentially, most data is recoverable. You can even find professionals who will recovery your data in emergency situations where time is of the essence. The best thing to do is to follow the steps above and call a data recovery specialist. You’ll eliminate the guess work and be assured you’re doing all of the right things to recover your data.
